Apple Contests

Come out Sunday to the Fairgrounds and join us for the popular Apple Peeling & Eating Contests! You can cheer on your favorite contestand or you can signup to be one and show your skills! 

 

CONTESTANTS FOR THE APPLE PEELING AND EATINGCONTESTS WILL REGISTER AT THE DISPLAY AREA, BERKELEY COUNTY FAIR GROUNDS, MARTINSBURG, WV

 

HOLLIS-LOWMAN APPLE PEELING CONTESTS

*Two Classes: Class winner will present the longest unbroken peel.

Contestants use the knives that are provided or they may use their own peelers, which can be either a hand-held peeler or knife.

Please note, 15 minutes is the time limit for peeling.

 

The Annual Hollis-Lowman Apple Peeling Contests are in memory of Mr. & Mrs. Roy W. Hollis and Mr. & Mrs. Richard R. Lowman, Jr. 

*Each Class: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place ribbons presented

Winner 2023 receives $50 cash & a plaque

Second Place 2023 receives $25 cash & a plaque

Previous Champions Class Apple Peeling Winner receives $50 cash & a plaque

Previous Champions Class Apple Peeling 2nd Place receives $25 cash & a plaque

 

APPLE EATING CONTESTS

*Three Classes: Contestants will eat an apple from a plate without the use of hands. The first contestant to consume the apple (or the most apple) within 2 minutes is the winner.

*Each Class: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place ribbons presented

First Place 8 yrs & younger receives $10 cash & a trophy

Second Place 8 yrs & younger receives $5 cash

First Place 9-15 yrs receives $10 cash & a trophy

Second Place 9-15 yrs receives $5 cash

First Place 16 yrs & older receives $10 cash & a trophy

Second Place 16 yrs & older receives $5 cash
