The 2026 Souvenir Quilt

This year’s quilt is based on the age-old Tree of Life block pattern — an original design by Bettie Pharr. Colored patches in the tree blocks use assorted prints representing apple varieties like Golden Delicious, Granny Smith, Pink Lady, and Red Delicious, while the green and brown borders represent the mountains surrounding our state’s orchards. The backing features crisp, mouthwatering red apples, and a label on the back corner documents the date and occasion for the winner. Measures 78″ x 78″.

About the quilter

Bettie began sewing at a very young age, inspired by grandmothers and aunts in North Carolina, and began quilting as a young adult in the late seventies — nearly 50 years of quilting. Her home-based business, Quilting Keepsakes, was born in 2006 and has served the quilting community for 20 years.
