The 32nd Annual Mountain State Apple Harvest Festival’s Apple Pie Contest will be held at the Berkeley County Youth Fair grounds on Friday, October 14, 2011. Senior Division participants will bake their pies at home and check in at the contest between noon-1:00pm. Junior Division participants, students enrolled in school, will bake at their schools (or homes if they are not enrolled in a class at school). All pie contestants are required to use an aluminum pie pan for a 9-inch pie. Plastic pie protectors will be provided at check-in.
Judging will take place at 1:00pm with an informal announcement of winners at 2:30pm. There will be a grand prize winner chosen from all pie entries and in both divisions there will be first, second and third place winners. Winners will be called with information regarding the auction of their pies.
All non-winning pies will be sold for $10 each on Saturday at the craft fair with the proceeds to benefit the festival.
Winning bakers are also invited to help auction their pies at 1:00pm on Sunday, October 16th at the Berkeley County Youth Fair grounds. Awards will be presented prior to the auction in the main arena.
